Embraced by the Naga-Loong Emptiness trekt die wereld verder open.
The Last Sunrize’s Termination zakt weg in wanhoop, afzondering en doodsverlangen.

Thailand lies far from the snow-covered lands where the Swedish second wave once carved its tracks through the ice, yet on Black Sanctum of the Nightspirit a bitter northern wind blows through Bangkok. Three sprawling compositions, together spanning just over twenty-five minutes, reach back to a time when melody could sound every bit as lethal as sheer aggression.
Amorphous Dominion was formed in 2018 around Sunrize Eclipse de Saga Triumph, who handles drums, guitars and songwriting, joined by Winterpath de Blizzard Abyss and, since 2026, Sawrath de Nocte Serviam on bass and vocals. Sunrize Eclipse once described the band as the “Eastern Sons of the Northern Darkness”. A more fitting creed for this demo is difficult to imagine.
From The Phenomenon of the Nang Rum’s Deathcurse onwards, the temperature drops mercilessly. Ice-cold tremolos cut through a sound that retains enough rawness without dissolving into an impenetrable wall of noise. The screams shriek like a freezing wind across the guitars, while a rumbling bass rolls beneath the tremolos from somewhere deep below. Hatred and aggression seep from every crack.
Yet Amorphous Dominion does not thrive on speed and frost alone. The lengthy songs burst with riffs and shifts without losing their coherence. When a melancholic tremolo riff pushes back the fury in the opening track, a curse is whispered in Thai. Betrayal is answered with vengeance, and the damned are condemned to dance until death claims them. Then all hell breaks loose again and the English lyrics are spat out through glacial screams. The “Nang Rum” of the title, rooted in the image of the traditional Thai Nang Ram dancer, becomes a cursed apparition amid incense, jasmine, saffron and death.
Here, the peculiar duality within Amorphous Dominion also reveals itself. Sunrize Eclipse attempts to translate elements from Isan and Lanna into black metal through his guitar playing. To these ears, however, they remain buried deep beneath the ice. Musically, the band wanders far more noticeably through the Swedish underground of the nineties, with the old spirits of The Black, Setherial and Throne of Ahaz in particular haunting these frozen corridors. The Siamese character asserts itself primarily through language, themes and ritual.
Embraced by the Naga-Loong Emptiness opens that world even further. The Naga coils itself around lyrics steeped in emptiness, death and Buddhist concepts such as shunyata and samsara, which assume a blackened form here. Musically, the band continues to pile riff upon riff, with melody and aggression constantly alternating.
The most inward-looking moment is saved for the end. The Last Sunrize’s Termination sinks into despair, isolation and a longing for death. When the electric frost gives way to acoustic strings and an almost gravebound whispering voice, the fury seems momentarily to collapse beneath the weight of its own despair. A melancholic tremolo riff then tears the darkness open once more, before the icy screams return to rip apart the final remnants of resignation.
Black Sanctum of the Nightspirit makes no attempt to reinvent the wheel. Amorphous Dominion audibly worships an ancient form of black metal and makes no apologies for doing so. Long compositions remain in constant motion, riffs sink their teeth in, the bass growls from the depths, and frost and melancholy continually find one another.
Thailand may lie beneath a different sun, but inside Amorphous Dominion’s black sanctuary, its warmth never reaches the ground. Here, night reigns, and beneath the Siamese moon the spirit of a long-lost Swedish winter still wanders.
