Uit Augsburg komt een naam die tot voor kort in geen enkel archief te vinden was. Kraath verschijnt zonder achtergrond, zonder verklaringen, enkel met een EP en vier tekens die hun werk dragen: K-73:1, T-37:0, H-09:3 en R-00:6. Deze aanduidingen vervangen namen en gezichten, alsof de muziek wordt voortgebracht door functies in een ritueel eerder dan door herkenbare personen.
De opname opent met een korte instrumentale inleiding en ontvouwt zich daarna in drie lange stukken. Dit is atmosferische black metal die tremoloriffs in dubbele lagen vlecht en akoestische passages inzet als ademruimte. De uitvoering is strak en gecontroleerd, de productie helder genoeg om de gelaagdheid te laten ademen, en een melancholie legt zich als een sluier over het geheel.
Absence legt een versteend lichaam voor, ogen gefossiliseerd en adem verstikt terwijl de wereld wordt verzwolgen. Descent toont een strompelend bestaan dat in de maalstroom uiteenvalt tot bot en aarde. Radiance beschrijft een klim die uitmondt in vuur en ijs, een zelfverbranding die eindigt in witte as. Elk nummer vormt een fase in de trage desintegratie van psyche en vlees, zoals Kraath zelf omschrijft: klanklandschappen van introspectie en sombere transcendentie.
Kraath komt uit het niets en legt met deze eerste uitgave een fundament dat onmogelijk te negeren valt. Voorlopig enkel digitaal beschikbaar via Bandcamp, maar de intensiteit van deze drie composities maakt duidelijk dat er hier een nieuwe stem in de Duitse ondergrond spreekt.

From Augsburg emerges a name that, until recently, could not be found in any archive. Kraath arrives without background, without explanations, only with an EP and four signs that carry their work: K-73:1, T-37:0, H-09:3 and R-00:6. These designations replace names and faces, as if the music were brought forth by functions in a ritual rather than by recognizable individuals.
The recording opens with a brief instrumental introduction and then unfolds into three extended pieces. This is atmospheric black metal built on tremolo riffs woven in double layers, with acoustic passages opening moments of breath. The performance is precise and controlled, the production clear enough to let the layers breathe, and an all-encompassing melancholy lies across the whole.
Absence presents a petrified body, eyes fossilized and breath suffocated while the world is devoured. Descent depicts a stumbling existence consumed by the maelstrom until only bone and earth remain. Radiance describes an ascent that ends in fire and ice, a self-immolation dissolving into white ash. Each track marks a phase in the slow disintegration of psyche and flesh, echoing Kraath’s own statement: soundscapes of raw introspection and bleak transcendence.
Kraath emerges from nothing and with this first release lays down a foundation impossible to ignore. For now it is only available digitally through Bandcamp, yet the intensity of these three compositions makes clear that a new voice has risen within the German underground.
