When the mist rises from the valleys of Foix and transforms the Pyrenees into a monument of oblivion and silence, Mordant Pyre awakens. This entity flows directly from the darkness of Noirsuaire. It is a blood offering twisted through the strings by the sole driving force N. The compositions on this EP originated during the sessions of his main project but demanded their own form through their distinct vampiric character.
From the very first second of Draculei Partei I, you are drawn into a vault that should have remained sealed decades ago. The production is cold and suffocating, like the first breath taken inside an opened crypt. The guitars gnaw slowly and relentlessly, while the vocals of N sound like the chilling laughter of an entity that has lost all memory of sunlight.
The influence of the old French masters and the spirit of the Légions Noires lingers in tracks such as The Howling Of Ten Thousands Tombs. This is raw vampiric Black Metal that refuses to kneel before modern clarity. Every riff feels like a shroud being pulled tighter. The theme of vampirism is presented as a parasitic curse, hungry, dark, and rooted in Satanic devotion.
Draculei Partei I was released as a tangible relic on CD via Khaoszophy Productions and as an extremely limited cassette of 99 copies. The tape’s cover displays a grainy black-and-white manifestation of decay that immediately confronts the listener with the cold aesthetic of the nineties. Whoever listens to this enters a domain where only death and the moon dictate the law. This is essential for those who prefer their Black Metal with the scent of rotting wood and freshly spilled blood.
